Controlled blasting specialist for chimneys, cooling towers and live plant in India
A plant owner in India hires a demolition contractor because a chimney, a cooling tower, a conveyor, or a hall has to come down while the next unit stays on load. The usual site is a cement works, a thermal station, or a process plant. PESO governs the explosive. The factory inspector and the plant own the exclusion. Vibration and air-blast have limits the running unit can actually take. If those limits cannot be met, the method is wrong, not the firing.
EXIQUDE is a Jaipur demolition contractor. Own employed crews. Own plant. Inside demolition we pick from the constraint: Controlled Implosion, Controlled Blasting, Mechanical Dismantling, Non Explosive Demolition, Quarrying and Crushing, Scrap Recovery and Site Handover.
Live plant
One unit down, one unit up. The adjacent plant stays in operation.
PESO
The Indian rule on the explosive. If permission cannot be obtained, the method changes.
Chimney
A shell on a hinge. One fall corridor. Not a building sit-down.
Cooling tower
A hoop cut. One tower is a shell. A row is a station problem.
Demolition
Controlled blasting
A chosen fall. Charging sits only where the design needs a cut. The remaining concrete is a hinge, a notch, or a designed failure plane. Used on chimneys, cooling towers, silos, tanks, and industrial shells when a corridor exists and the explosive can be permitted.
On a live plant the design starts from what must stay up. Survey the shell, the liner or fill, residual ash, foundation, and everything in the fall lane. Lock one direction with the plant. Strip what would snag or fly. Fire one sequence. Confirm the adjacent unit never tripped.
Named jobs with film already on the site. No new numbers.
NTPC Kanti, 2026. 135 m chimney. Adjacent unit running.
UKAI TPS, 2024. Two chimneys, same sequence, plant around them.
Angul, 2022. 256 m chimney, 50 m width. No rank.
Pune NH. Controlled blast to fragment the span, then mechanical take-down, so the road below could reopen.
HEG Mandideep and UltraTech Jafrabad. Overhead tanks. Hospital, DG house, quarters or plant 5 to 10 m off the line.
Chimney take-down
A chimney is a tall, thin, heavily reinforced shell. It does not sit down like a building. We cut a hinge, we choose a fall direction, and we put the shaft on the ground in a corridor we have already cleared. Get the hinge wrong and the shaft can sit, split, or walk toward a running unit.
A few degrees off at the hinge is a large miss at the top. Charging is only in the cut zone. The remaining concrete is a line hinge, not a point. The usual chimney job in India is one unit down, one unit up. Two chimneys in one sequence is not two jobs glued together. Each shaft needs its own corridor.
Order of work: survey; one fall corridor; hinge and cut; pre-work on liner, platforms, aviation lights, residual ash; one sequence; shaft on the ground, stub, mechanical clearance. Confirm the adjacent unit never tripped.
Cooling-tower take-down
A natural draft cooling tower is a thin hyperbolic shell. The shell stands because the hyperboloid carries load in hoop. A designed cut at the base or throat takes that hoop action away. One tower is a chimney-like problem with a much larger footprint. A row is a plant problem: each shell needs a lane, and vibration and air-blast stack.
KTPS, TSGENCO Kothagudem, 2024. Eight cooling towers at an operating station. Four fired in one sequence. One outage window. GSECL Utran, 2023. One cooling tower at the gas plant.
Controlled implosion
A designed collapse. Columns and walls in chosen storeys are weakened so the mass falls into its own footprint or a set corridor. Everything around it has to stay up. A half-fallen frame is no longer the structure you designed. You do not re-fire the original sequence.
Alpha Serene, Maradu, 2020. Two 17-floor buildings, houses as close as 9 m.
UltraTech Maihar, 2025. Coal conveyor, silos left standing.
ACC Ghughus, 2021. Two preheaters, one operation, working plant.
Mechanical dismantling
Long reach, derrick and winch, or hold and cut. Used when blasting is not the method.
Reliance Syngas / LKPL Phase 1, Kondapalli. RCC buildings, foundations, a power shed, a short window. Explosive was the wrong tool. UltraTech Awarpur. Mechanical. Already on Media.
Non explosive demolition
Mineral crack, wire saw, or breaking when vibration and fly have to stay off the adjacent plant. Same crews. What sits next to the job decides.
Quarrying
Deep hole blasting and bulk explosive systems. Anand Sharma, mining engineer, MBM Jodhpur, 1993.
Crushing
Mobile plant on site.
Recycling
Scrap sorted and handed over. Scrap Recovery and Site Handover under the locked six names.
Blast design for metro, tunnel and port sits with demolition, not as its own service. AFCONS, ISGEC and APCO Infra are already on the live client list.
